Amanda Wilson, one of our graduates, writes in with a great opportunity for graduating seniors:
"As you may remember, I am participating in a year-long
social justice fellowship called Avodah:
the Jewish Service Corps. The organization works to fight domestic poverty
in DC, New Orleans, New York, and Chicago. The job placements cover a wide
range of challenges in at-risk populations, including homelessness &
housing, education, law, immigration, healthcare, economics, employment, etc. I
feel that it has been an incredible step in my Jewish journey. In addition
to the full-time job placement, there are also communal living and professional
development components. The deadline to apply for next year is quickly
approaching (February 10), and I was hoping you might pass this opportunity
along to any of your Jewish students that are looking for a next step after
graduation and great way to enhance their Jewish journeys after Pitt! Feel free
to also send them my contact information should any interested students have
questions! I hope you're doing well and finding a way to stay warm!"
Ha, ha, Amanda... stay warm, indeed. But there is life beyond the polar vertex and if this opportunity appeals to you, Amanda is happy to answer your questions or provide more info. Here is her contact info:
