Note on the title of this blog:

The title of the blog commemorates an important event in modern Jewish history that took place in Pittsburgh. The 1885 Pittsburgh Platform defined the principles of "classical" Reform Judaism in America until it was superseded by the Columbus Platform in 1937.

Obviously, this blog and the Jewish studies program does not endorse any particular religious point of view. Our "platform" is not an ideological statement but a metaphorical foundation for announcements and news of interest to students, faculty, and friends of the Jewish Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh.
