JTS Excellence in Jewish Studies Award

The JTS Excellence in Jewish Studies Award

· Current sophomores, juniors and seniors may submit a Jewish studies essay or paper written in the English language to The Graduate School of JTS.

· Awardees will receive a signed copy of a book published by JTS Chancellor Arnold M. Eisen as well as a cash award.

· Essays, with page numbers included, may be submitted electronically here in .doc format, or by mailing a copy of your essay with the information below:

The submission deadline is March 3, 2014. Award recipients will be notified by May 1, 2014. Please contact gsadmissions@jtsa.edu or (212) 678-8032 with any questions or concerns.

Note on the title of this blog:

The title of the blog commemorates an important event in modern Jewish history that took place in Pittsburgh. The 1885 Pittsburgh Platform defined the principles of "classical" Reform Judaism in America until it was superseded by the Columbus Platform in 1937.

Obviously, this blog and the Jewish studies program does not endorse any particular religious point of view. Our "platform" is not an ideological statement but a metaphorical foundation for announcements and news of interest to students, faculty, and friends of the Jewish Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh.
